Linsey from Farmhouse Porch,
Debbie from Confessions of a Plate Addict and Anne from White Lace Cottage. Our guest hosts will join us again soon.

This is Debbie at Confessions of a Plate Addict and I am really excited to be your host this week! Fall is finally in the air here and that's my favorite season! Soon it will be time for sweaters, fires in the fireplace and hot apple cider...and I can't wait!

And I hope that after you have had a chance to link up and look around that you will come back for my fall home tour. If you have never visited before, I would love to meet you! We are all decked out for fall here at the Plate Addicts and I can't wait to show you around!
And now...are you ready to party? Once again, I was so impressed by all of the inspiration you bring each week! Thanks so much for joining us! Here are just  a few of the links that caught my eye...

Hymns and Verses shared her beautiful fall decorations created using apples from the farm stand. Doesn't this almost look like a painting?

This one from Distressed Donna Down Home made me laugh out loud! If you have ever had to explain the logic of buying books that no one is planning on reading, you will understand! Head on over and see what I mean!

Oh, my! This is one of my favorite desserts...reminders of fun trips to New Orleans...but I never thought about grilling bananas Foster! Home Made Modern tells us how she did it.

I think I could just move into this beautiful French country bath from Comforts of Home...gorgeous!

I am kicking myself for trashing the very things that make this pumpkin fabulous...ribbon spools! Talk about upcycling! Check out the tutorial at Remodelando la Casa...so clever!

Faded Charm takes us along as she harvests some of the last of her sunflowers...so pretty! I am also loving that old enamel-topped table and chippy chair!

Thank you for linking up, friends!

Welcome to the Scoop!

Welcome back to the Scoop Link Party!

Just a couple of new things to share with ya'll today...

First of all, I finally got around to adding little burlap curtains to my hutch! I bought this hutch for $75 from a thrift store a couple of years ago and they had lost the doors to it. So now I can hide that unsightly clutter! I found these cute little pre-made curtains on ebay for cheap.

Sorry about the yellow pic. I took this just now, late at night with no good light source. Also...I think the chairs look a bit funky. I'm trying to phase out my old (falling apart) rush seat ladder back and black chairs with lighter painted chairs. I'm even pondering long benches on either side. I'd love big white slip covered chairs at each end, but that isn't in the budget. And honestly, it's not high on the priority list so the room just slowly evolves as I find things.

And in the world of art...a pumpkin is born. I completed this one today, here it is...

"Moonlit Pumpkin", 12" x 12" oil on canvas

It feels soooo good to finish a painting. Especially when you are a mom, and your life is a sea of never ending chores and rituals. As moms, our job is never "project based". That's why it is so important to have hobbies and goals that are completely separate from family life. Painting is a mental escape for me, because I can't think about anything else while I do it. Do YOU have a hobby? A painting? A craft? Killer recipes? Can you do wonders with a drill or chalk paint? Share it now....

A New Painting and A Change...

Hello my friends. This post is going to be random and all over the place. First of all...

Are any of you going to Roundtop this week? I am going this Friday. I'm so excited! You better say hi to me if you see me!

Second of all, I just finished a new painting.

"Moonlit Pumpkin",12" x 12" Oil on Canvas.

I always seem to paint things that I am currently wanting for my own home. It seems to be a good thing because if it doesn't sell I don't mind being stuck with it! I'm going to list it today in my etsy shop.

Lastly...

Facebook "suggested" that I transform my Farmhouse Porch personal page into a business page. So I did, and I can't stand it. And it is irreversible.

So now I can't have a "news feed" and see the status updates of my followers. Furthermore I can't request or deny friends. My business as a blogger, artist and etsy shop owner is uniquely personal. I can understand why Walmart doesn't need to get to know its' followers personally, but I do (and did). I enjoyed it and now one of my favorite things...talking and responding to all of you on facebook, seems to be over. I just don't know what to do about it.

Oh my it's party time... AGAIN!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for joining our little party each week. Without you, it wouldn't be a party. I thought I would share just a few photos of the new house with you. This is where I sit every morning for breakfast, surrounded by dishes.

We officially sold the old house last week, which was such a relief. I'm working on photos of the new house, so expect lots of photos coming later this week!!

My Mantle Mental Problems

Sooo...I'm having mantle problems. No, not MENTAL PROBLEMS (although I probably have those too :D). I don't get fixated on design problems very often. I consider myself a creative problem solver and I actually enjoy working with what I have, rather than grumbling about what I need.

But geez lou-eeez...my mantle makes me a hot little potato. It is *maybe* 4 inches deep. What MAN (sorry men, but I am totally pinning this on you) designed this??? Forget about setting Christmas garlands, chunky vases, or anything that is not skinny on it. And there are no electric plugs up there to boot. Which would be understandable in an old house, but a new house? Ugh.

So I am going to have to get over my disproportionately strong anger over this and get creative.

The problem is...

1. Poured concrete that looks like stone, so adding a wood shelf to the top won't do.

2. It is brand new house and I think anything that drastic would freak the hubby out.

If this was our forever home, I would totally do it.

We built a little house years ago. It was our first home...before babies, when we were so fresh and unknowing. But even then I KNEW that the mantle had to be deeper!!

Wow...seeing this photo makes me sad because it seems like yesterday! Anyways, I was able to pay the wood working guy an extra $50 to cut me an extra deep wood mantle shelf to add to the existing builder grade one. And I remember paying $25 for every extra outlet plug I wanted in the house. I of course added one to the mantle. I hope whoever lives there now appreciates my forethought. :)

In other news...here's a vignette featuring my broken shabby chippy old hen. Her bottom shattered, but I couldn't bare to throw her away. So I placed her in a pile of straw in a nesting box. It looks meant to be!

And on the other side of the console table...this.

Over the next two weeks I'm going to be parting with some of my most FAVORITIST things!

I got this chair and big old floral canister with jadeite green trim, (with handles and a lock?) the other day. I want to keep that bin so BADLY! Should I keep it? Huh? Tell me I should. Ok...you twisted my arm. I'll keep it for awhile.

Maybe just maybe I have that special little vintage item you have been hunting for???

After doing some "hunter-gathering" around town, and cleaning out some of my own treasures, I have found lots of chippy painted goodies and old shabby things to say goodbye to this week! I thought I'd give ya'll a little pictorial inventory of the loot.

Also, I am thinning out some of my collections because Round top Antique Show is in a couple of weeks. Woo-hoo!  And lord knows I won't come home empty handed.

I have little office/inventory room in my house, it is "Farmhouse Porch Central" and where I store all of my inventory for my etsy shop... and honey...it is bursting at the seams!

Don't look too hard at the chair with the burlap loosley covering the seat . Let's just say...it's a work in progress.

So...if you buy more than one item, and I can put them in the same box, I'm happy to combine shipping! Also, never hesitate to let me know if you are looking for something in particular. I just may have it!

But even if you don't see anything you just have to have ...

Just in case you missed some of the themed feature posts from previous weeks, here they are:
I am also featuring some of your links on my Pinterest board Shared at The Scoop Linky Party and I have also shared them on my blog's Facebook page. Soooo...please know that linking up on The Scoop will not only get you more exposure on multiple blogs, but on Pinterest and Facebook as well!
What a great deal, huh?

And now for a few things that caught my eye this week…
transferwareSherry at No Minimalist Here showed us the fabulous thrifting score that she had to dig through piles of junk to find. I am having major tureen envy! And…you will not believe what she paid for it all! It was a real “start the car” moment!

blueberry breakfast tray
Sarah at Hyacinths for the Soul shared her wonderful breakfast on the terrace with us. Not only is she having some of my favorites, she is serving them on a pretty Provençal tray with a sunny mug, taking me back to the south of France!

Barn 011_thumbAnd speaking of France, Red Hen Home showed us how she made this unusual frenchy clock face table…love it!
The Vintage Farmhouse showed off her fabulous one day craft closet make-over…amazing! Having just given one of my closets a make-over this week, I know how much work went into this project…and hers is pretty to boot!

Got some mismatched books you would like to disguise and make interesting at the same time? Cottage in the Oaks has the perfect solution for you! Head over to see how she accomplished this look!

Restored-door-hardware-GorgeousAnd finally, Glass Slipper Restorations showed us her unusual method for restoring vintage hardware without using any chemicals! I love this idea since I have some old hardware that I have been postponing tackling!
