"Fake it 'till you Make It" Autumn Entryway

We have company coming this Saturday for a little football party. I thought that adding some "autumn " to the house might help set the mood. Even if it is sweltering hot outside. I just LOOOVE the holidays! Can you tell?

This reminds me of the apple cider mill (bf clyde??) in Connecticut that we used to visit in the fall. I miss that. Anybody live up there? Want to send me a jug? MMM!

Acorns and apples...leaves and barnwood...rusty, crusty metal...creamy white ironstone jugs...all on a simple burlap runner.

An old zinc mason jar lid makes a perfect little farm-y candle base.

And out of everything I put out, the truck is my favorite! I've been waiting for a chance to use it. I love adding at least one whimsical item to a vignette!

Well...there you have it. Football season and fall feelin'! Inside the house anyways...

Welcome cyber neighbors, to another Scoop Link Party! And if you are new to my blog The Farmhouse Porch... welcome to YOU too!

I have some news. I am a mother again!!! If you follow me on my facebook page you are probably rolling your eyes right now, as I have inundated you with photos of my new bundle of joy for days.

Here she is! Meet Junebug! A 9 week old,  20 inch  ball of cuteness that has the ability to turn even the burliest man into a baby talking mushy mess.

Now let's get this Scoop Party started! Excuse me while I go wipe up a puddle...:)

Woof, woof!

~Linsey

I deem today the beginning of Autumn!

I deem today the beginning of Autumn!

Howdy-do!!! It may be a dreary, rainy day here in Houston, but I am as happy as a clam. After an incredibly hectic morning of dealing with the new baby puppy and getting 2 kids to two different schools for their first day of class, I came home to my cozy little abode and suddenly felt the urge to nest for autumn. It's MY house, and fall makes me happy, so I can pretend fall is here if I want, right?

So what if it completely contradicts what my kindergartner is about to learn during her "calender" lesson today! Haha.

I guess it's just something about the first day of school...apples for the teacher, the impending holiday season, fall foliage colors in the store windows, listening to my husband watch pre-season football "stuff" on tv...that makes my internal seasonal clock say "Fall is here baby, yeah!!!"

I took this photo this morning. I have to admit, I started to shed a few tears as I watched my little bird fly away without looking back at me. Sigh. She is the baby after all. :(

Me, in 6th grade, raking up the beautiful fall leaves in Connecticut. Where has the time gone? This feels like yesterday!

The first day of school can be very emotional and stressful for a kid. I thought it would be nice to have a plate of cookies ready for mine when they get home today, and a nice message to make them feel special and loved. I remember coming home from school every so often in the fall, when I lived in Connecticut, and my mom would have pretty music playing and something baking. The house would smell like pumpkin and cinnamon yankee candles, and there was a warm feeling that made me feel loved and relaxed.

I always seem to try to bring that feeling of "New England in the fall" into my own home. It just feels like happy memories and coziness. I hope that someday when my girls are grown and gone, they have similar loving memories of our home.

I have a scented candle addiction! 99% of them smell like Christmas or fall. MMMM! This is a new little glade one I picked up called autumn hayride or something like that. What is your favorite candle "flavor"?

This awesome table was custom made by the sweetest gal ever! Her name is Amber and she owns  Sienna Bella Rose Etsy Shop.  She is a wonderful, hard worker and can make you something beautiful too.

The quilt below was made for me as a wedding present by my best friend's mother almost 11 years ago. I adore homemade gifts, they are the best kind.

And as of this week, there won't be much "decor" to see below waist level in our house ...

Due to our new addition! Miss Junebug...

I have been babysitting all day. It's as much work as watching a human baby!

I also moved my little clock collection to the plate rack. They fit so perfectly, I don't know why I didn't think of it before!

So there you have it. A taste of fall! Verrrry early!

Welcome to the Farmhouse Porch and The Scoop Link Party #79!

Welcome to the Farmhouse Porch and The Scoop Link Party #79!

I have just returned from a week long trip to Boston and New Hampshire. We straggled in at midnight last night, absolutely exhausted. Pardon me if I slur while I write. I am still playing catch up and my brain is in a daze. It was a fun filled week with friends and family though, and I can't wait to share pics of the beautiful barn wedding we attended.

Shortly before I left for my trip I acquired a new set of chippy old garden chickens. I've been wanting some for soooo long. No farmhouse porch would be complete without some chickens!

I thought i'd also share just a few pics of the old "what-nots" around my house to get the party started this week. Keep scrolling down to link up!

My messy office!!! This is the one decent spot in it, and it too is piled high with "stuff" just like every other wall. I need to clean it out and find a home for these stacks of vintage linens.

And last week I was thrilled to see lots of links starring my favorite colors...blue and white! Be sure to check them out here! I am also featuring some of your links on my new Pinterest board Shared at The Scoop Linky Party and I have shared them on my blog's Facebook page.
Sooo...please know that linking up to The Scoop will not only get you more exposure across multiple blogs, it will also get you noticed on Pinterest and Facebook as well! What a great deal, huh? So thanks for joining us!
And now...on to the features!

My heart nearly stopped when I saw this fabulous French antique chair that The Laundry Can Wait found on Craig's List for a song! She says she found her dream chair...and mine, too! #MajorChairEnvy

The Thrifty Rebel shared her amazing DIY silver goblet wind chimes...beautiful!
And what a wonderful sound they must make!

I am amazed at the intricacy of the paint job done by Remodelando la Casa on this Greek key design tray! Such a classic look!

Green Willow Pond showed us how to make these perfect little paper flowers!  Love that script paper!

This sounds unusual but heavenly...baked avocados from Lamberts Lately! It has two of my favorites ...avocados and bacon...so it has to be good!  I am trying this one for sure!

Cindy at Glass slipper Restorations shared the process of baling hay through her beautiful photographs. I was particularly struck by this photo. It almost looks like a painting and reminds me of a modern day version of Claude Monet's haystacks.

And finally, Far above Rubies shared a detailed tutorial for making this unique burlap and lace table runner...gorgeous!
