This is the third white hutch this dining room has seen in one year. And I swear it's the last. On my honor...swear! The first "hutch" really wasn't a hutch at all but an old secretary with a drop front desk. The second hutch, here "Old Museum White Chippy Hutch", was really cool but way too small and dinky for the big long dining room wall. Also, it only had room to display less than half of my ironstone collection, which OMGOSH...I didn't realize I had amassed so much of in a year. More on THAT in a minute.
Anyways, I have a friend who has a shop and I asked her Friday "When are you gonna sell me this "NFS" hutch that i've had my eye on for a year?" and her reply was "How about $75 for it?"
Um.
SOLD to the ironstone addict in the Texas A&M shirt!!!
Next I had to coax the hubs to help me pick it up today, the poor fellow only wanted to veg after a day of children's birthday parties and celebrating a major win by the Aggies last night. But when I act like a toddler and beg and plead he usually gives in. Love him so much!
I swear I haven't spent a fortune on ironstone either. Some of my pitchers are family heirlooms. The rest I have just gradually picked up along the way for cheap. I weeded out some pieces that I have duplicates of and will put those up for sale in my Etsy shop. So please come check it out if you collect it too.
Right now I just have old suitcases down there. It looks ok, but not great.
What would you do?
I tell you what though...I am going to have SO much fun playing "shelf dress up" for Christmas this year!!! Ideas are buzzing away in this A.D.D. brain of mine. So I wanted to show you the blank canvas before I bedazzle it in holiday bling. :D
Hugs and Sugar!

What a beautiful piece for a great price too! I like the idea of the burlap curtains on the bottom. Your whole dining room is beautiful!!
Love your new hutch, Linsey. The scalloped edging is adorable and your ironstone looks great in there. I actually like the way the bottom looks now but I know whatever you do with it will look fantastic. You have great taste!
I love it! The white on white looks so elegant... I would do the burlap, would look better than doors, cute!

For real - THIS one is PERFECT!! I love it and only $75 - you lucky girl! I would for sure do the burlap curtains on the bottom - would be so cute!
What a steal for 75 dollars. It looks great showing all of your ironstone pieces.
AWESOME!
So happy for you!
Your hubs needs a big hug.
Mine too, yesterday he cleared out his van, b rought two heavy chairs downstairs and put in van, drove to store, dropped them off and then we went and bought one large chair to take their place....it...back UP the stairs....
Oh, and he took me out to dinner as well. Good men, yes ma'am they certainly are that and more!
So lucky...I am in LOVE with this hutch. I get it, I have a small white one and would LOVE to find a bigger one too. Sweet find.
I totally share your hutch addiction! I eye hutches on craigslist all of the time! In my dining room one wall has a cut out and the other is a sliding glass door so I never thought I could have one:( Finally I realized I could put one in the entry way repurpose it and use it as an organization center! I just finished the reno and will link up to your party Tuesday:D So excited to find your blog..I ADORE your style!

$75?!?! Are you kidding me. Amazing deal. Well done you. I like the open storage and of course, all your ironstone. Thanks for sharing, liz
Love your new find, and it fits your space just perfect:)
I hope your friend doesn't read your blog, cause if she does she is going to realize she gave that away!! It's gorgeous, and I love all of the scallops!! I just bought a 4 ft by 4 ft shelf that has scallops on the shelves. I thought it was a steal for $100, but your deal beats mine hands down. I hope things are going well with your job. Your ironstone is also just perfect. Really I love the dress on the wall, the basket, the hutch, the chairs, it's all beautiful. BTW, I know you mean it when you say this is the last hutch, but it might not be. Better just to not say anything. Learned that lesson the hard way. I don't make statements saying what I will or won't do that have to do with my passion. I break them all of the time. I don't see you needing to replace it, but you never know...
Great deal. Love the Ironstone you've collected. Baskets or suitcases in the bottom. Try burlap (just drape/pin a piece to see if you can stand it. I am betting the suitcases/baskets win. Great hutch.

- how about adding a shelf for platters (flat) where the small drawers should be?
I like that idea Joy. That would really be handy for me too...with my platter addiction and all. :D
Yes...your friend gave you one awesome deal!!! The burlap curtain sounds cute...maybe some nice baskets. Congrats on your BIG WIN...it made our day:)
Blessings,
Linda
Very nice. I have one that has a missing door on the bottom right next to the drawers and I just hung a little white curtain and it looks lovely. x
Wow, the hutch looks wonderful. All of the white ironstone looks amazing. You could do shutters or yes the burlap would look lovely.
Linsey great hutch! If you can't find the doors I would just use wood to create a shelf where the drawers used to be. Suitcases or baskets look great there! I recycled an old hutch into a tv stand and had to use wood to create a bottom where I removed the drawers, it turned out great. Good luck
Susan
hi Lindsey, love the hutch. If you can't get the doors I think I would use wood to make a bottom to some of those shelves. The suitcases you have in there, or even baskets are a great idea! I made a TV stand from a hutch and removed the top drawers...
all I had to do was to make a bottom for the baskets could sit on.
Great piece and wonderful price! I'm a burlap curtain kind of gal...when it doubt...put up a bulap curtain.
Farmhouse hugs,
Cindy
Linsey, I love the scallops on your new hutch! The ironstone looks fantastic and I think some needs to come to my house. Your dining room is so pretty. Love it when we can see the whole room!
Linsey you are too funny! I LOVE this hutch!! It is perfect in your dining room. For $75 I would have said sold too!;) Now wheres that cow hanging?
Linsey, Your new hutch looks perfect in your dining room! Great display piece for your wonderful ironstone collection.
Mary Alice
Good bargain on your hutch. If she doesn't find the doors, what about a check, red & white maybe? I know burlap is really "in" right now, but I think a check just shouts farmhouse/rustic.
How lucky are you girl! That piece is gorgeous with your amazing ironstone collection!!!!! Hmmm I think I would use a curtain. That would look really pretty and soften it.
xx

Your hutch looks stunning with all your ironstone! I had to laugh at your 'hutch addiction'! I have too many (addictions) to count :)
Susan
How about some checked material for down below? Would look lovely in that tan and black check that I'm drawing a blank on what it's called...
Brenda
What a great piece. I love it!
That piece is just too pretty! You have a great friend and a great hubby!
I think the bottom looks awesome like that. However, I do think the burlap curtains would look darling trimmed in white crochet trim or with layered white ruffles. It would be super cute if you could find or make folding shutters to put there as well.
Good luck with whatever you do with it!
Oh Linsey, I love it! I wish I had the room for a beautiful hutch like yours. I like it open, but a burlap curtain would look gorgeous too! Love your dining chairs too! x Julie
It's a beautiful piece, Linsey! I can understand why you love it. The scallops on it are great. If you want to cover the bottom, I would do fabric curtains. Either burlap or a dropcloth painted to look like grain sack material.
Beautiful hutch and fabulous dining room!
That hutch is a wonderful buy and so beautiful. Love it. Your dining room is so beautiful.
Kris
