What is it? What's it worth?

My favorite part of Country Living magazine is the "What is it? What's it worth?" column in each issue.

I think I'd like to start doing a similar weekly post. I know that so many of you are experts or collectors of antiques. I think it's so fun to find out the history of something, especially when it was passed off as junk and turns out to have a little value! I might even have y'all send in pics of stuff for me to post so we can have a sampling of items...hmmm.

I got this bowl for a dollar at a thrift store. I use it all the time, mainly to hold fruit on the counter. It's not amazing by any means, but for a dollar why not get it? It *seems* fairly old. It is stamped Germany on the bottom. Can any of you tell me anything about this bowl?

p.s. The weekly "What is it?" post is strictly for FUN. I value your feedback...even guesses!

p.s.s...Did you notice my new Burl Ives music? hahaha. Reminds me of watching Summer Magic and all of the other Hailey Mills movies with my mom when I was a kid.♥♥♥

What a fun post! I have no clue about the bowl but can't wait to hear what you find out. I recently purchased a Royal Doulton Bunnykins bowl at the thrift store for $1.21. The markings on the back indicated it was from the late 1940's and it was signed. I sold it on Ebay for $55! I was thrilled!
Good luck finding out about your bowl.

VaVa...I LOVE stories like that! We need to do this weekly. It's so interesting! Like an episode of "Antiques Roadshow". Send me a pic with info if you have anything you've always wondered about and I'll add it to next Thursday's post!

Interesting idea! I have no idea about the bowl, but it is very pretty and I bet it is worth more than a dollar. I just had to comment to tell you that I live just a few miles from Burl Ives hometown! We have a special Christmas theme in his honor.

I don't know about the plate, but I love its patina. I recently purchased 2 serving platters from my local thrift store because they were like the ones my Mom had many years ago, so I can relate.
Thank you for dropping by citicasita.
I am following you through the new Lynky Followers tool and would love it if you followed me back. I'm a cowgirl at heart!
Thanks for sharing,
