Weekend What-Nots in Candy Colors

I used to post about my shopping finds all of the time! Why did I stop? I so enjoy seeing what you guys find on your junkin' trips! I decided to snap a few shots and show ya'll what caught my eye this weekend while I was out and about. I also wanted to promote a great little shop to visit if you're ever in the North Houston area!

In this first photo there are two new things to show you. The first is this sweet oil on canvas vintage bird painting. It was 4.99 at Goodwill and I almost didn't get it...now I'm so glad that i did! The cottage-y pastels are so springy and airy. It just has a sunshine-y, happy feel to it don't you think?

I swap out artwork in my house constantly! Why should we not? It's like watching the ever changing seasons out of your windows. I like to keep a stack of artwork and wall hangings in a closet, and rotate them often. You'll notice them more and "rediscover" the beauty in them whenever you get them out. It's great when you have neutral furniture too, like all white. As you see I've removed the brown and black accents and am in the process of replacing them with jadeite and kitsch vintage pastels. It's like sprinkling eye candy around the room! It's so refreshing, like a spring breeze fluttering through open windows.

Oh, almost forgot! The second thing I want you to look at in this pic above is that adorable little white bench. I bought that at Ellen's Timeless Treasures, in Humble,TX. She just returned from RoundTop (where she always sets up a booth) and she returned with lots of new goodies for her shop! This bench was about $30, which I thought was a great deal. Go check it out, and tell her the Farmhouse Porch sent ya!

Next up is this HUGE vintage paint by number painting! Got it dirt cheap too. It is sort of  an "out of my comfort zone" purchase. It needs to be in just the right spot to look "right" and not cheesy I think. I plan on painting that big frame, I'm not a fan of the groovy maple look. :D I think I'll paint it a color, probably a super pale pastel.

It has a great timeworn, crackly patina. I'm a sucker for that!

My last little find, in keeping with the retro pastel obsession, is this 1964 Joy of Cooking cookbook for $1. It's such a lovely shade of aqua! It's packed full of jell-o and pie recipes, and swanky drawings that look like Jane Jetson's hands kneading dough.

Are you adding any spring fresh colors to your house lately?

Hope your day is sunny, and filled with the sweet smell of honeysuckle and cut grass!

♥Linsey

Love the bird print, it is just perfect for spring and the paint by number will really pop with a new frame color.

Great finds! It seems like my Goodwill always is full of "art" from the 90's or cheap Walmart wall art. I like the cheerful birds painting!
Thanks for telling us about Ellen's Timeless Treasures. I'm going to have to check it out sometime!
