Where the Day Melts Away...

We just arrived home this evening from a 5 hour drive. With kids. Kids fighting over one barely working old portable DVD player and a bag of goldfish crackers. Can you relate moms? Haha...honestly it wasn't bad. I'm out of the "diaper changing, bottle making" phase so road trips are much easier now. But after a long trip is there anything better than coming home to your own squishy soft, lovely bed? Of course not! In fact I plan to go get into this very bed right after I finish this post. Oh mushy marshmallow of cozy clean sheets how I love thee!

My bedroom has always, always ,always been white. My childhood furniture was a large set of white wicker pieces that worked well for me until high school. Maybe it's the artist in me, but white feels like a blank canvas that can be constantly edited with a few brushstrokes of color.

I love calming surroundings in a bedroom especially. Not too busy or fussy. Between the kids, black lab and the piles of laundry constantly being sorted on this bed there is enough busy-ness to distract me. I need a feeling of space, yet warmth and coziness at the same time. Boring by most "designer" standards, I always seem to revert back to my white fluffy bedding, cloud like duvet and soft glowing shabby lighting.

Part of my reason for sharing this with you is to show off my new bed skirt for my new king size bed! It is a wonderful thick white linen with a wrinkly gauzy look. It was custom made by Ruby + Stella Home of Etsy.
It arrived promptly, wrapped beautifully and smelled like a garden. I'm so happy with it! The super soft pink sheets are from Tar-jay (Target) and so is the the chenille like blanket, that I bought as a stand in, and am now in love with...because it feels like butta!

Another item I bought to sell on Etsy is this old lamp. I just recently discovered that the base lights up through a glowing lacy metal silhouette.  It is dreamy and functional because it lights up alone, like a night light, or with the top. I know it's a little 50's cheesy but something about it is so romantic to me...

And of course there's a picture on my nightstand of my first baby, miss Shadow. It's nice and cold here in Houston tonight. I shall enjoy my big warm down comforter for sure!

Tidings of Comfort and Joy to you too!

Linsey

p.s. Here are a few of my new finds from my trip to Fort Worth over the holidays!

Your bedroom is so pretty! I can so relate to the kids fighting. When mine were little it was so much easier--now that they are teenagers it is possible they could really hurt each other! They have always fought like cats and dogs. Oh well, nice to have a beautiful bedroom to escape too!

Linsey your bedroom is a true haven of peace and loveliness.

I adore that "cheesy 50s" lamp. It's great in that space, it's so romantic - are you going to still sell it then?

I love coming home after travelling too - nothing like our own bed.

Your new bedskirt is AWESOME, it's beautiful!

Happy New Year to you and yours!!

The bed looks divinely cozy. I am the crazy lamp lady for sure. I like how the base of your lamp lights up.

Your room looks so pretty and peaceful. I prefer neutrals/whites in my room too. I added some red over Christmas and am already itchin' to take it away! Your new bed skirt is just beautiful, too! Hope you're having a lovely rest.

Linsey...I just read your post on my blog about regular visits to LoneStar Antique Mall. Thanks for the very nice post and the regular visits. I hope you have not seen the booths recently...I have been a really lazy dealer over the holidays. I am glad you found the blog but unfortuntely, I think it is broke...for good! It won't let me post pictures any longer. My friend LaurieAnna says I have been hacked and will probably have to start over...ugh! Although my blog is no longer being updated...I am so very glad to have found yours...BEAUTIFUL! I will be a regular follower now. Let me know the next time you are in Fort Worth...I would love to say hello.

I love color, but the master bedroom and bath always have white bedding, and white towels; it feels luxurious to me. Your is so pretty, and I especially love the photo of the baby! Wishing you blessings in the New Year.
