I can FINALLY blog again! With PiCtUrEs!

I had to break down and pay money to continue blogging. Apparently I have to pay for picture storage space now with Google. Last week I tried to type up a blog post and when I went to add my pictures I received an alert that I had reached my maximum allotment of storage space for pictures and couldn't proceed. No problem I thought, I'll just erase a bunch from my picassa album (which I found very frustrating and NON user friendly but maybe it's just me and my lack of tech savvy-ness). I had, and still have, no clue what I am doing when it comes to blogging, photography, or anything with buttons. But somehow I mange to stumble through it, barely passing by the skin of my teeth, doing the bare minimum to get by and managing to look like I totally know what I'm doing. Sorta like middle school. :)

In other news, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Farmhouse Porch house. Natuarally, living in Houston, it's not at all feeling like Christmas outside, so I am doing everything in my power to live in my own little snow globe and pretend it's chilly and snowy and winter-y.

Here are a few of the nooks and crannies that have been bedazzled and blinged up!

A scarf handmade by a friend gifted to me 2 years ago. So special to me ♥

Thank You for stopping by...I plan to poke around your blogs this evening after the kids are tucked in to see your holiday wonderfulness!

Hi Linsey,
I can't get into the idea of doing much decorating when I'm in flip flops and I'm burning up! Your house looks like a winter wonderland- just beautiful! You'd never know it's so warm here with all your snowy scenes. :) Enjoy your weekend of 80 degree weather! Maybe we should turn th A/C way on freezing to invite some shivers. LOL!

The same thing happened to me on my blog. I tried deleting picasa albums and I found it to be very difficult as well. I can't believe I am paying for photo storage. I am glad that you are posting again. I miss Houston and I love seeing all of your photos.

The same thing happened to me last week. I'm glad you are back up and running. :)

It all looks gorgeous! I love the package with the black ribbon and greenery! I live outside of Houston and on that one cold day we got I bought apple cider, planning to make hot apple cider. Well we haven't had a cold day since! I think I'm just going to make it tomorrow regardless of the weather! :)

I had the same thing happen to me :) Anyway, I love all of your pictures - very beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

I went through the same problem with photos. Deleting pics in Picasa web helped for a post or two but then it was right back to the same message. I guess blogging isn't 'free' anymore as I caved and paid too. Love the little vignettes you shared especially the trees in jars.

How timely this is..I have been trying to figure this out since last night but it keeps telling me to try again...ugh! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Love the jars!

Don't feel alone about the weather in Houston...it's the same here in Mobile. Your Christmas decor is just my style...love what you have done. If I start feeling better...I hope to post some Christmas pics this weekend.

Linda

I love the little peaks :)
I had to buy some storage space a few days ago as well, so frustrating that we have to pay for something else but I couldn't just give up blogging!
Have a great weekend!

I have one our oldest daughter made me, and I adore it. Just don't get many opportunities to wear it here in central Florida! But I do wear it when I can!

Have a lovely weekend and thanks for sharing your pretties!

My daughter got the same notice on her blog about paying for photo space. I love all your vignettes. So pretty. Speaking of pretty ... love the photo of you! You remind me of my sister who we always say is the cutest of the girls in the family. :)

Linsey, You home is Merry and Bright! The mantle is sparkly and stunning! Very artfully put together! Your little one is so adorable! Her picture says, "Look what Mommy did... beautiful!" Yes... yes, it is!

Same here - I had to pay too. Makes me wonder if Google isn't on a billing spree, rather than we just used up our allotted storage space.

I still haven't done one single ounce of Christmas decorating and I'm not sure when it's going to happen. Sure wish life would slow down a little, so I could enjoy the season, but I love looking at your photos!

Okay, here's advice from the engineer in me. You can upload from the blogger platform and I believe it uploads photos at whatever size they are on your harddrive. OR you can upload from Picasa, and use the setting where Picasa resizes the photos to save on space. I always let it resize them. I haven't had a problem, but I have hosting, so I can always put my photos there any way. The hosting is for when I switch to wordpress, just as soon as I have the courage to do so. Yes, I know computers and I am still not crazy about making the move. So any way, I guess that advice may have come too late for you.

Linsey 2 years ago when I first started blogging I did the same thing! I reached my max so I started deleting pictures from Picasa... little did I know that all the pictures I deleted also were deleted off my blog! I lost 2 months worth of my first blog posts! Now I am smarter and pay the yearly fee!

Lovely, lovely images. As has been said be sure you resize those images and you will have a lot more storage. An image out of my camera may be 3200 x 1200 pixels but I resize to 600 pixels(first number and let the editing program set the other). Happy Christmas, Olive

Looking at your comments. it seems we were all recently facing the same thing. I paid $4.99 for more space. I have learned to delete a lot of bad pictures when I download them which helps. You can also throw them in the trash bin on your camera.

Your Christmas decorations are so pretty...I love your minimal simple style and natural elements. The wreath is just fabulous!

Jane

Oh I just love everything!! Of course the trees in the jars are my favorite!!!

Hmmm, I also just had to pay to post photos. It does seem a bit strange so many just had to pay. However, the photos do make the blog! Love your vignettes! I've only just begun the decorating at home. Had 25 12" trees to decorate for centerpieces which took time away from the home front!

For someone with tech struggles (I understand!), you certainly are the Link Party Queen! Probably helps explain why you have so many folks commenting. Go girl!

Your home looks warm, cozy, festive and lovely!

You have gotten me inspired on this grey Saturday morning ~ Im turning off the computer and gettin' busy with the decorating. Thanks for the ideas!!!

Hey Linsey---
do you think maybe your space got used up by all the linky party images??
I don't know NUthin' either, but it made me wonder.
If that IS the culprit--I'll kick in "more space" for you! Luv your blog and your generous heart for the linky party!

Gorgeous photos, Linsey! Here in Colorado we aren't getting the wintery atmosphere we would normally have at this time of year, but I'm sure it's coming! Love the scarf-handmade gifts are just the best.
Happy December 1st!

I am right there with you and the photo situation ... learning as I go along. I love all your pics ... very inspiring!

Hi Linsey,
I had the same problem a year ago and my storage plan is getting ready to expire again soon. What really makes me mad is that Google wants me to pay monthly now, which I so do not want to do. I would much rather pay for a year, which is what I was able to do last year.

Anyway, your home is looking simply beautiful! I love all of your vignettes.
I hope you have a lovely night.
Sincerely,
Melinda

The way I avoid paying google is to upload my photos to photobucket and use the new url to place them on my blog. Just a thought.

New fan by way of The Creative Cabin! I have linked up several of my blog posts, some from pre-Christmas last year because egg-blowing can take a little time to master.

I love your work and would like to invite you to join me at my weekly Clever Chicks Blog Hop: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/12/clever-chicks-blog-hop-10-rural.html

I hope you can make it!

Hi Linsey. I came back to look around on your blog some more because I love your decorating. I had to laugh when I read this because I have no clue what I am doing either on this blog stuff. I just know how to get on. I have such a tough time with it. I remember when I started a while back you had commented for me to link up and I didn't know how and I was to embarrassed to ask. I still don't know how to link up. It's so ridiculous. I would love to change my blog and make it pretty and I have no clue how to do that either. I wish there were classes by me somewhere that taught how. Anyway, just wanted to say again how I love your decorating!!
