Modern Marries Vintage with Some Industrial Accessories

Mixing Vintage and New

First of all...please forgive me for hurting your eyes with these horrible photos! I have a decent camera and I don't know how to use it. It's such a sin. My dad and my brother are professional photographers and I have no excuse besides the fact that I HATE learning new technology. I may be the only blogger to say it. I hate learning new things on the computer. That part of my brain is very stubborn. And these fancy digital cameras are in the same category as far as I'm concerned. It's on my "to do" list.

Our new-ish house has 3 full bathrooms and no half baths, weird huh? This bathroom is part of a mother in law suite at the bottom of the stairs. This bathroom gets lots of traffic. And even though it is a full bath, it is super tiny.

I've really neglected this bathroom. Decor wise, I really wasn't sure which direction I wanted to go with it. It's very contemporary. It's dark. It's sleek and masculine. And I really don't want to invest the money and time into major remodeling of a new (cookie cutter suburb) home when we know we may not be in it for a long time.

After trying lots of "outfits" on this room, a soft industrial look in a palette of grays and neutrals and creams seemed to fit best.

Oh, and I have a neat rack with hooks that will take the place of that towel rack.

I bought the shower curtain at Target! Hooray for Tar-jay!

Love your bathroom Linsey. . . bathroom fluffin must be in the air. . . I'm working on ours too. . . {{{whispering}}} our bathroom is smaller than yours and it's the only one in the house. Makes for easy decorating, picture taking not so much. . .look for a post coming soon @ Real Simple Style

It looks lovely, Lindsey! I have the identical little wire basket, but I'm using mine in the kitchen to hold dish towels.

I think your bathroom looks great. I really like the new shower curtain and the vintage photos. I know what you mean about these suburb homes. If you do anything too 'out there' or put too much money into reno's the return when we sell just isn't there.

I laughed about our similarities! I hate everything techy and I'm always fumbling with my camera. I want to take outdoor pictures but before I can get a zoom lens I need to learn the basics of this darn thing!

And...I have a mother in laws suite except our home is 80 years old. Imagine these MIL's hanging around since then!! We even have a small kitchen which thankfully we turned into a nursery!

Your bath turned out fab, I love the prints. It has your unique personality and that's all you can hope for. Love it! :)

XO,
Jane

I just love how you decorated your bathroom! Love the sepia toned artwork and the shower curtain you found at Target. I love Target! I need to redo my master bathroom one day and eventually my kids bathroom. Yours gave me lots of inspiration.

Beautiful! I always love vintage touches. There's such continuity from the generations past, I think, is why I like it so. I'm your newest follower.
