I don't have any exciting stories to share today. Just a few pics of the living room. It was a gorgeous day today. Yesterday was stressful. I won't get too long winded but let's just say a good chunk of it involved a long wait at the vet with an antsy toddler and dog. In the end she (our lab) was found to be totally healthy thank goodness. Anyways, my point is that I decided to treat myself to some retail therapy today to recover. I only spent a few bucks I swear...
Today was all about driving to my favorite cottage antique stores. Places where I park under a big oak tree. Away from traffic and the hustle and bustle of city. Places where I have the place almost to myself, and I know the owners, and consider them friends. The shops feel homey. They have a unique "grandma's house" smell. My daughter plays with the cat laying in a patch of sunshine on an old chair while I stroll from room to room. I miss my mom because I feel like she should be standing right behind me so I can turn around and show her this neat old postcard I found.
Can't you just feel the blood pressure dropping as you read this?
Ahhhh. I walk on to the kitchen in the cottage.
And then I see that ironstone pitcher I've always wanted! And the blood pressure shoots back up! In a good way. : )
*sidenote..sofa cushions upturned to keep said lab off.
Today was a great day.

Hi Linsey~
I'm so glad to hear that your pup is healthy.
It was a beautiful day.
Your pitcher was just the icing!

What I enjoyed about your post was that you wished your mom was right there with you. I just this month introduced my oldest daughter to everything that goes with thrifting and junking and I hope some day when she's still going on the thrill of the hunt, that she wishes I was right along side her.

Sounds like a perfect way to de-stress!
Your living room has the look of a calming place to me too.

Glad you got a day to recover! Love your new finds...they look great on the mantel. Since your just about 45 minutes from me, I'm dying to know where you go antique shopping.

I am still waiting for the day that I find one of those pitchers! They seem hard to come by.
Sometimes the smallest finds bring the greatest joy! I'm in total agreement that visiting those little neighborhood shops makes life slow down, if only for a moment.
Your newest pitcher looks right at home with the rest of your collection.
Love your pitchers and your stained glass they look great on your mantel.
Many Blessings
