DIY Burlap Farm Art

***Before I begin, don't forget that the "Cowgirl Up!" linky party starts right here, Monday nights at 8:30 central time! Link up once...show up on 4 blogs.***

I am sharing this at Laurie Anna's "Farmhouse Friday" party♥

A few weeks ago I ordered 2 little burlap "canvases" online. They were about 6 dollars each, or maybe it was 6 for both. I can't recall, but they were pretty cheap. This morning I thought I'd experiment with them. This project it so quick and easy! And how can you beat artwork for under $10?

I did the cow and font freehand. I'm very impatient. I'm sure you could use a stencil or print out a silhouette to trace if you wanted. I should have drawn it out with chalk first. That way I could have brushed off any mistakes first. I used brownish oil paint with liquin mixed in to thin it out. I'd imagine any paint...or even markers, might work too.

I ran a piece of cream colored satin ribbon through the back like this to create a hanger...

And that is all there is to it!

  4. Very cute. I'm just picturing myself freehand painting with OIL paints. I'm afraid I would end up with an aardvark. :@

  5. This is really cute. Not sure what I would end up with if I tried to paint with oils either. Probably a pregnant aardvark. I might try it tho as a subway art thingy. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Linsey,

You are so danged clever, girl.

And that is FREEHAND? Holy smokes I could never EVER do that.

I love that cow art. Now if you do it for a bird silouette you may have to just sell it to me.....lol!

    Have a wonderful week. Hugs.

  17. Freehand?? Seriously - that is so amazing - you are really an artiste - vs. a crafter (not that there's anything wrong with us crafters...). I love it - and the font, too.

  18. That looks great Linsey! You are so talented. I would have to have a stencil or something of the sort. Really love this though!:)
