A stroll through "Old Town Spring" antique cottages (pics)

You know how they say not to run away from your problems? I completely disagree! I have tons of housework that needs to be done, but I left it all behind to go meander the streets of Old Town Spring today with my M.I.L. and it was just what I needed. Besides recently quitting my teaching job of 8 years and being a "stay-at-home" for the first time in my life, and being broke, the oppressive heat this summer has given me cabin fever like no other! Now thet the weather is just muggy and not "3rd degree burns from touching the seatbelt" hot, I can actually leave my cave with my cubs.

Here are a few shots I took with my cell phone.

I fell in love with this old hat, even though every time I think about buying one that Meg Ryan line always pops into my head from You've got Mail - "Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today I saw one. I couldn't believe it. It got on at 42nd -- and got off at 59th, where I assume it was going to Bloomindale's to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake. As almost all hats are."

I can imagine a sweet southern lady riding across a prairie dirt road in a Bonnie and Clyde type car from her farmhouse to church in this hat.

And some vintage purses...

The next few are of this neat old building near my shop. They have all sorts of neat things, like a huge outdoor dove atrium attatched to the corner of the house.

A farmhouse fall tablescape

I started thinking, as I gathered my fallish items for my centerpiece, about what I could use to corral all of the pinecones and contain everything. I have stacks of antique picture frames and this large faded gold one is my favorite. I think it works nicely...and best of all it was free. In fact everything was on hand except the walmart punkin'! Pardon the aweful picture quality...in the recent move I misplaced my camera cord to my nice sony camera so these are from the cell. : ?

Paintings I did this morning...

You guys know i've been really into my old book crafts lately. I had these two canvases that had ugly little paintings on them so I covered them up with paint and more book page clippings. I'm thinking about writing something in french all around the border when they dry, then slap on a few coats of crackle varnish.

Daily DIY

Found this neat tag idea by craftsbycarter on ETSY and I love it! But since I'm dirt poor right now I must attempt it myself.
