Let's talk about spring baby!

Let's dwell on springy things!

Spring is ...

Green! Fresh! Floral!

The sun is out here in Houston and in the warm dirt bulbs are pushing through. I've been checking the flower bed and after a bit of cold rain last weekend, POP! Green tender shoots peeking up through the mulch.

Soon the smell of honeysuckle and cut grass will fill the yard.
Ahhh, I love it.
My little girls (who aren't this little any more! Sniff, sniff) and my yard last spring.

And I can't talk about spring without mentioning Texas storms. Scary, exciting and dramatic. Oh how I love a nice afternoon thunderstorm. You can smell it moving in. The roiling clouds make such beautiful and mesmerizing shows in the southern skies. And then when the storm passes it feels like everything has been washed and refreshed. The sky is so clear, the birds all come out to play and the greenery perks up. I just love lazy spring days ending in showy thunderstorms.

Here is a pic of a Texas stormy sky from last spring...

I just had to rearrange the hutch in my office and get out the jadeite. I feel the need today to be surrounded by bright sunny colors and sunlight.

Is it warm yet where you are? What is it you look forward to in the spring?

  1. I'm pretending Spring is here in Michigan today. Even though two days ago we woke to a fresh 3 inches of snow. Today it is in the mid 40's and I have some windows open and have been doing some much needed dusting and vacuuming. Tomorrow we are back in the 20's I believe. Oh well, we take what we can here! Nice collection of jadeite, so Springy!

  3. Love your jadeite, Linsey - I collect it, also. We have a nice sunny, breezy day here in WV today - my daffodil buds are swelling, but probably won't bloom until next week. Love those first blooms in my annual beds!

I have a feeling spring is going to arrive a little later this year in Virginia because of our cold winter.

  7. Here in Montana we have spring as well. . . The snow (10+inches) all melted in a matter of days. . . considering we had it on the ground for several months. . . I was glad to see it go. . . but under the snow was green grass. . . not common here. I walked around the yrd lookin at flower beds (stalling from pickin up dog poop)and there is signs of life everywhere. I have lilies, daisies, lavender, holly hocks and columbine all showing signs of green. . . Yeahhhhhh. . . it was a tough winter. . . now we have flooding state wide :(

    Happy Spring, Linsey. . .

  12. We have had a few days with sun and temps in the 60's! I am working in the yard--cleaning the decks and planting flowers. I love all seasons but spring is my favorite!

  13. Linsey, your jadeite collection is beautiful along with your paintings. We have had some warmer days in the low 70s here in SC but they have only been teases. I love the spring bulb flowers and acres of peach trees in full pink bloom. Have a great weekend.

  20. Hi Lynsey, we are still waiting for spring but it seems to elude us. What a nice idea to bring out your beautiful jadeite, that must have cheered you up. I'm just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. I have been having trouble with GFC and if I am already following you, and you following me, please forgive me. If not, please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

  23. Your jadeite collection is gorgeous.

We laugh because we had no winter in southern California and now that spring has arrived we have had cool, gray days on the coast instead of hot and sunny. Go figure!
