It's ok to change your style!

Do you ever stumble across a blogger or creative person who is so fresh and so inspiring that you break free from the chains that bind you to you current decor/ color scheme and try something new? Every so often I do, and their ideas light a flame in me. They get my gears turnin' and get me excited about new projects and new treasures to hunt for.

But before I get to that...

(A.D.D. moment here...)

Look at my flower arrangements! I made these yesterday on a whim. :) I wanted something big and fluffy and fresh on the table. I needed it to be free and be something that took about 10 minutes to do. I took the scissors into the yard and started clipping away. My honeysuckle and rosemary are growing like weeds, as well as the potato vine. I also threw in a few crepe myrtles, zinnias and some tall yellow things my neighbor let me steal. I had to disturb a few bugs and a baby lizard. Sorry critters!

I also had about 10 lemons in the fridge that were given to me for free weeks ago. Can't let those go to waste! I saw something like this on Pinterest once and I must have filed it away in the back of my head for just such an opportunity. I'm pretty proud of myself for figuring this one out without any directions!

OK...back to what I was saying. Now before I reveal who I've been lovingly stalking, I want you to know that you will roll your eyes and pity me for having only just recently discovered their greatness. You all have been following these two bloggers for quite some time I am sure.

The first one is The (oh so famous) Farm Chicks. I love the berry reds and crisp gingham fabrics against old white weathered barn wood. I bought the Farm Chicks books and have loved every page, especially the Christmas one! Yes, I totally want to go to their antique show and don't rub it in if you get to go all the time.

The second blogger is Aunt Ruthie of Sugar Pie Farmhouse. She truly is one of the sweetest ladies on earth, and her cooking is just plain beautiful to watch. I love how she uses old kitchen utensils and jadeite bowls for her batter and pie making. You can just smell the cinnamon apple spices wafting through your computer monitor. And her house is lovely too! To top it off, she is a talented writer and lovingly writes inspiring and spiritual posts.

Sugar Pie Farmhouse

So, in the spirit of these lovely ladies, I thought I'd set up a colorful farmhouse vignette...just for fun! A little mix of my style and their colorful farmhouse style. The trick with decorating is not inventing the wheel...but RE inventing the wheel! Putting your own twist on the breadstick so to speak.

Ta-da!

Like a bowl of cherries...chippy reds and vintage tablecloths just make me smile! Summertime just feels like the right time for stretching my decorating legs, trying out bolder colors and relaxing those rules a little bit.

Many of these items are for sale too! In my etsy shop HERE. Some of them will be added to the shop tomorrow.

Oh, and one more important thing. I let my 4 year old get a tattoo...

Heehee

Just don't look at the part in her hair. How do you other moms get it so precise?

Hope you are having a colorful, fun filled summer holiday week!

☼Linsey

•I want to add that I was not compensated or approached by these bloggers for a write up. These are just my own little thoughts about people inspiring me now.

  1. Love your inspired vignette, Linsey! My sisters & I stock & sell a lot of vintage linens & I love those cotton print ones. It's hard for us to let them go, but we do foster quite a few. ;) I also collect jadeite & cake stands (& dishes &......). Your floral arrangements look great too! Have a good weekend!~Rita

  6. I am not a fan of the color red but I agree with you--red gingham and accents with the farmhouse look are so appealing. I remember when my kids were 4--they got a lot of tattoos!

  8. Love your flower arrangements and the red decor! I get sidetracked on my "design plan" EVERY.SINGLE.DAY! Bloggers are an influential bunch with their beautiful decor and styling. I'm totally confused about what I really want. LOL

  9. I so totally agree with you about these ladies styles. I love them both as well but am not brave to try their look in my house. I am afraid it would turn out too "country" looking. Does that make sense? Your vignette is spot on. You did great!!

    Keep up the beautiful creations!!
