Maybe I have been overlooking them, but I haven't come across many (affordable) neat old weather vanes. I've been on the hunt for one lately. Of course I could never afford a "true" copper folk art antique weather vane. I was shocked recently to see one appraised for hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Antique Roadshow.
But I'm pretty thrilled with my little weather vane. I think I'll name her "The Black". I love "The Black Stallion" the movie.
I also picked up a couple of green frogs to display postcards and what not.
I'm rushing through this post because we're going for a swim in the neighbors new pool and my kids are about burst with excitement.
Enjoy your holiday!
Linsey

ReplyDeleteCool weather vane!
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I'd love to have an old weather vane. This one has wonderful character. Love the look of the vintage black paint.
ReplyDeleteJealous of your weather vane!!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's the perfect accessory for your dining room!
ReplyDeleteI love your dish cabinet! And the overall look of the room.
ReplyDeleteThe Black is a fav of mine too. And because my Dad rescued a copper horse weathervane which my sister was tossing from her new abode, my chance came to do something with it. Bought a 4 foot porch post from a friend, painted ASCP red, waxed it dark, then my dear brother drilled the hole to fit the horse proudly on top. Looks just as I imagined
ReplyDeleteWhat a great weather vane! Love the flower frogs, too.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you could have found one that better complimented your beautiful space. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Tanya
Came over from Nifty Thrifty to see the weather vane, but actually I love the entire room. So serene and calming!

it's wonderful and it truly belongs right where it is, perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love, your chippy weather vane!! What a great piece!
ReplyDeleteLove your weather vane. I know what you mean about the price of the copper ones. I would love a copper horse, but not willing to pay too much for one. Thanks for sharing at Wow.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love your horse. Saw your lovely painting at Northern Nesting. Hope you had a great swim, with no injuries!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic find, Linsey! Your dining room is gorgeous too! Thanks for sharing both at Knick of Time Tuesday - I'll be featuring you next week and there will be an "I Was Featured" button waiting there for you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Angie
P.S. - Could you add a button for Knick of Time to the places you party? Purty please! :0)
Though our weather vane would not be considered old, 20 years, it is one of the copper ones and sits on a large column in our garden. As I recall, it was around $200. At one time, we had it in our living room. Your Black is great looking in its location but I am sure you will move it around and have great fun with it.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh...I love that weathervane ~ it is the perfect piece for your room!
ReplyDeleteLove your weather vane and your entire look. I will be back to check out more of your blog.
ReplyDeleteBravo! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteLove your vintage finds!
