Tarnished Silver Mantlescape

Kinda antsy this morning. Big storms are supposed to roll into Houston soon and I keep going to the window to see what's brewing. A tornado actually touched down in Kingwood last week and I was minutes away from escaping it. It was only an F zero mind you, but it was scary and exciting nontheless. My best friend, visiting me from New Hampshire, and I were having lunch at the La Madelaine in Kingwood. The sky was black, rainy and flashing with lightning but tornadoes are a spring thing (so I thought) and didn't even enter my radar, so to speak.

No sooner had we gotten into the car, my husband calls and says "There's a tornado in Kingwood...but you girls are at home right?". Uh...negative ghostrider. HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

Of course I worked my best friend into a frenzy by being a little overly dramatic as we raced home. :) Sooo...long story short, they are saying there's a possibility for tornadoes today and that's all I can seem to think about.

Since my mantle is near the window facing the storms I couldn't help but do a little rearranging with my new tarnished silver items.

This is my wedding shower bouquet made with ribbon from my shower gifts by my cousin. I've always loved it...

That's all I've got for now. I'm gonna try to do some painting after lunch (ie...toddler naptime). If I get blown over the rainbow to munchkinland this afternoon tell my mama I love her...haha.

  7. You are so funny! I can just hear that conversation going on with your husband. That is something my husband would do too. He's always making sure we're all ok when he's not home. I kind of like the anticipation of a storm as long as I don't feel like it's really going to do me any harm. Crazy huh? I'm assuming you're ok and not in munchkinland like you mentioned. Ha! If you're not, then I totally have egg in my face. Love the combo of silver and old books on your mantel too. Hopefully, they're still sitting on the mantel as I write this. ha!
