A Cottage Garden Painting-fresh off the Easel

I love those old yard long floral paintings don't you? I saw one recently, on Pinterest, hanging above a stove. Right there under the vent-a-hood! An unlikely place, but it looks fabulous. So cottage-y and whimsical. It softens an industrial space with a pop of nature. I am a huge fan of garden style home decor. I think cottage style goes hand in hand with romantic, charming  cottage gardens filled with herbs, crusty white metal furniture and white picket fences dripping with roses.

In the spirit of floral yard long paintings, here is my attempt today.

The background is actually the palest robin's egg blue, behind pink and blush roses...

"Gathered Roses"
 oil on canvas, 11x14"
$125

After I glaze it, I think I'll hang it by a big ivory ribbon.
I will glaze it with a tinted varnish that will give it an antique, aged look and shine.

Thank you so much for looking. I really enjoyed painting this sweet painting.

  4. Thank you girls, so much! You boost self esteem♥
Each time I do a painting I get just as nervous that nobody will like it. My husband did not care for this one so I was feeling a little iffy about it. Then again, he'd probably love a painting of a Dallas Cowboy... LOL

  13. This is so pretty! I also love paintings of roses. I have one that my mother-in-law painted. Could you please tell me what glaze you're going to use to "antique" your painting and exactly how you're going to do it?

    Thank you!

  16. The vinyl privacy fences have many advantages over wood in addition to being affordable and easy to maintain. Vinyl fencing stands up to harsh Canadian winters, and will not splinter or rot like wood.
