Easy Burlap Knot Wreath



I ventured into a new thrift store about a week ago and found a stack of 6 crafting wreaths for 50 cents each. I snatched them all up, not knowing what I would do with them.

I decided to try the "As seen all over blogland" burlap knot wreath this morning. So easy, and I think it turned out great! Especially when layered over a mirror or chalkboard, or draped over a curtain rod or headboard.

I started by cutting strips of burlap about 8-10 inches long and 1-2 inches wide. I didn't measure, I think the irregularity adds to the design.





Then just tie the burlap strip around the wreath, making sure to cover the the wreath well by putting each strip partially over the last. Pretty straight forward.


When finished hang with some ribbon. So easy and no sewing involved!




***UPDATE***

I just did one with fabric. It needs a bauble hanging in the middle I think...any suggestions? It screams little girls room to me.

    I did buy some shabby looking floral fabric (bedsheets) at the same thrift store. I'm going to tea/coffee stain it, rip it into strips and try the same technique! I bet it will work...

    I love the look of these wreaths, thanks for reminding me just how much! : ).. Great job. I realllly need to make one too. They would make some terrific gifts.. Hmm! As for the bauble in the middle of the fabric one? I love the look of some Christmas tree ornaments. They have all kinds of great ones out right now that could be spray painted a different color.     I am so in love with anything burlap this season, and this is the first time I seen this as a wreath. Lovely.
