"Bundled Roses" After Antiquing

I like to add a mixture of pigment and glazing medium to some of my paintings, in layers, to give them an aged look. Sometimes I refer to it as tea stained or tobacco stained. It tones down the intensity of colors. It worked well on my recent rose painting. I knew I wanted to do this from the start...I just hate waiting until the paint is dry.

"Storm over a Farm" Painting

Before I get to the painting...I want to show the world that formal dining rooms are good for something. Impromptu tea parties with bored little girls! Read on to see why they were driving me a weensy bit crazy today.

Miss P decorated the bottom tier. These were old odds and ends in the pantry. :) Yes...that's really old valentine's candy. Don't judge!

They were very antsy this afternoon because it was gorgeous outside, but they couldn't play in the backyard because our shed (my newest makeover project) was being built. I took a pic halfway though...


I'm about to be very busy dressing up this blah and boring little eye sore. I' actually looking forward to it too. I've been pinning ideas on my "cottage dreaming" pinterest board long enough, time to make it a reality!

I'm so excited to share my latest painting with you. I'm really in love with this little piece. I don't know why, but I adore landscapes with a huge sky. A bird's eye view makes everything seem so grande, even if the painting is small. In this painting you can see a rural farm that sits on a pond. If you look closely you can barely make out a winding dirt road and a white fence.  The focal point, however, is the looming cumulus clouds. The viewer can anticipate the building storm that will soon overtake the seemingly helpless farm.

I love it when I share a painting and someone feels a connection to it...especially something I may not have thought of. Does this painting make you uneasy? Do you find it calming? Does it remind of a place or time? I can lose myself  in landscape paintings...imagining the unfolding story. 

I  live in tornado ally. I have been in some pretty nasty weather situations over the years and have had recurring tornado nightmares since my teens. Maybe that is why I am so drawn to this one...I have stood before a sky like this and felt excitement and dread all at once.

In other news...I sold 3 paintings this week and received 2 commissions for large paintings! I am trying to keep up with the demand, but I certainly won't complain. :D

Anita here, and oh how I love Cowgirl Up!  Have I mentioned lately that ya'll rock?  I have gotten so much inspiration from all of the wonderful ideas here.  I just want to curl up with a cup of tea and my laptop on the sofa, and soak up all of the beauty and creativity.  I'd throw in a little nap too, but not at the same time, because the tea would end up all over my laptop...

Is this a French Laundry Basket or what?!? I need your feedback.

Can anyone tell me about this basket? It looks VERY old. It has wood rails that look timeworn on the bottom and wood poles on the corners. Is it a french laundry basket? I found some online that looked almost identical and they were $200!

It is huge! Both of my girls can sit in it together. I am hoping that some of you French antique collectors can tell me my suspicion is correct. Like I said, it looks very old, which you can't really tell from the pictures.
