3 Big Things for Show & Tell!!!

3 Big Things for Show & Tell!!!

1. We are going to be on America's Funniest Home Videos this Sunday (3/25)! Look for the video where my daughter reaches for an Easter egg and gets a "hissing" surprise instead. (6 p.m. central time on ABC I think)

2. This Saturday is my Fort Worth Gallery Night art show. I have been painting like the wind. I'm really excited and of course I'll share pics of the unveiled paintings and the show when I return. : )

I hate that I'm so impatient. It's probably my worst trait. So before you see these pics and think you'd change the light fixture or window treatment...relax! I've already mentally taken care of it. Now I just need to physically take care of it. In fact that little china cabinet/secretary with early 90's crackle finish is just temporary. Something bigger and cooler is in the works (project #43 on the list...) and I am sooo excited to dive in.  I have an a-ma-zing light fixture already. But getting my overworked hubby to help me hang it is taking a backseat to bigger projects we are working on in the yard. I've been planning a big dining room re-do for quite some time! It's the room that everybody sees when they enter my home and I was tired of the dark black furniture. In my attempt to lighten things up I sold the black china cabinet. Funny enough, the sweet girl who picked it up took a look into the garage and said "Wow, you two are real project people huh?". That made me feel so good! Little does she know we're good project STARTERS...haha.

Here's a (Horrible) BEFORE ...
*I was rearranging...it wasn't always this disheveled

And  AFTER...

Like a breath of spring huh? I actually want to go into this room now! Thanks for reading, I have been reading all of your comments and linky party link ups. Thank you for hanging in there 'til things settle down over here in my little corner of the world.

"Cowgirl Up!" Linky Party #6

Welcome to Week 6 of
 Cowgirl Up! Link Party . . .

the party with a cowgirl can-do  spirit!

1 Party, 4 Blogs

It's Anita from Cedar Hill Ranch this week.  I so much enjoy perusing the wonderful links every week and this week was no exception.  When Amanda we first came up with the idea for Cowgirl Up, we decided to allow people to link up not just projects but whatever post they wanted to share each week.  I am so glad we did, because it includes more bloggers, and we get a wider variety of links.  I enjoyed the links so much this week, and really had a difficult time choosing my top favs, but I  forced myself to narrow it down to just 10, oh no... wait... update, I just counted and there are 11.  See what I mean?  I just couldn't decide.  Any way here they are in no particular order.

Elegant Economies shared a little chenille sunshine

Decorating Ideas Made Easy made this fresh as spring wreath.

Hyacinths for the Soul shared her many heart vignettes

Miss Gracie's House gave us a tour of her gorgeous kitchen.

Twigg Studios used t-shirt fabric to make a ruffled Union Jack pillow.

Don't Mess with My Tutus opened her wedding dress box and took some amazing portraits of her daughter wearing that wedding dress (I wish I had thought of it when my daughter was little; now she's too tall for my dress.)

Cottage Charm Creations shared her DIY ironstone secret (I am TOTALLY stealing this idea!)

From Generation to Generation mod-podged a lovely floral linen to her clipboard.

All Things Beautiful created this beautiful moss-covered cross

Yvonne, from Stone Gable dyed her Easter eggs with onion skins.  Yvonne left blogging in December leaving her readers sorely missing her.  (She talks about why she left here.) This week she returned with a fresh new design for her blog.  Welcome Back Yvonne!!

A Vintage Farmwife shared her story being "God's hands and feet" helping neighbors clean up after tragic tornadoes.  I know I have seen this on the news, but to see it in person, must be quite horrifying.  Thanks for sharing Susan.

Why I've been missing and some neat items to show you...

I've been a lurking blogger lately. But I have a good reason!

I am about to be in an art show. It's nothing big, just a mother/daughter exhibit during Fort Worth's Gallery night on March 24th. But it's big to me!!! I am so nervous! This is the first time I've ever put my artwork out there for critics, buyers, and art lovers to see! All while I stand next to it and answer questions about it. I am not formerly trained! I have zero formal training. Hopefully that won't be evident to the "critics" and if it is I hope they don't say anything to me about it. I might run out of there crying.

So I've been painting and worrying. That's where I've been.

I tried to do a little something today just to keep in touch with you and have something to link up at the "Cowgirl Up!" linky party tonight (starts at 8:30, don't forget!!!).

Can someone tell me what this is? I have an idea of what I'd like to do with it, but I have no idea what it is! It says "Ideal" on the inside and It has been outdoors, you can tell. It isn't from a lamp because there's no hole in the "bowl" part, or anywhere for wires to go. Any ideas?

How cute is that little bee skep. Wanna know a secret? I got it at Michael's, 40% off. It had this ugly plastic cactus wired to it but I saw the beauty it could become. I think it's just too adorable! And I found  the old alarm clock on craigslist this week. Little clocks look good anywhere and everywhere. You can never have to many I think.

Here we have my china hutch (which is for sale BTW). If you live in TX and offer me a halfway decent price you can come and get it! Anyways, while I wait to transform the dining room I need to store the ironstone so I tried to arrange it a little bit. If you follow me on Pintrest you've probably noticed my hutch pinnings lately. Lots and lots of inspo!! I can't wait to build my dream hutch!!! Yes, you heard that right. Hubby has agreed to help me build one. Woo-hoo!

And finally, old flatware. Why do I love this stuff? I'm kinda obsessed with it lately. I love to research the maker and pattern. I love the historical possibilities of it. It is such a common household item, yet some of them are so ornate and interesting they are like little works of art. I found a bunch for 25 cents each. All of them were truly old and tarnished, like these from 1914.

Don't forget to link up to the party tonight!!!
