♥Cath Kidston Inspired Girls Room♥

I've really been digging Cath Kidston stuff this week. If you follow me on pinterest just take a look at my "color" board. Cath designs fabrics and all sorts of other colorful patterned items that are just plain fun. The cheery retro look combined with pinky red rosettes on an aqua polka dotted background lend themselves to little girls room decor. I'm ready for some color in my life! Not just any colors...bold and vibrant. I think a kids room is a great place to start.

I want to share some "before" pics of my daughter's room and some Cath Kidston examples. I plan on doing a window treatment, some throw pillows and possibly sheets, a chandelier (which I already have in the attic), something unexpected on the walls, and a wall display shelf in a bright color.

It's exciting to have a game plan! And it will be so fun to scout out items in these new fun colors that are totally different from my "norm". I think her room lends itself to this look don't you?

What is it? What's it worth?

My favorite part of Country Living magazine is the "What is it? What's it worth?" column in each issue.

I think I'd like to start doing a similar weekly post. I know that so many of you are experts or collectors of antiques. I think it's so fun to find out the history of something, especially when it was passed off as junk and turns out to have a little value! I might even have y'all send in pics of stuff for me to post so we can have a sampling of items...hmmm.

I got this bowl for a dollar at a thrift store. I use it all the time, mainly to hold fruit on the counter. It's not amazing by any means, but for a dollar why not get it? It *seems* fairly old. It is stamped Germany on the bottom. Can any of you tell me anything about this bowl?

p.s. The weekly "What is it?" post is strictly for FUN. I value your feedback...even guesses!

p.s.s...Did you notice my new Burl Ives music? hahaha. Reminds me of watching Summer Magic and all of the other Hailey Mills movies with my mom when I was a kid.♥♥♥

White Wednesday Living Room Pics

I don't have any exciting stories to share today. Just a few pics of the living room. It was a gorgeous day today. Yesterday was stressful. I won't get too long winded but let's just say a good chunk of it involved a long wait at the vet with an antsy toddler and dog. In the end she (our lab) was found to be totally healthy thank goodness. Anyways, my point is that I decided to treat myself to some retail therapy today to recover. I only spent a few bucks I swear...

Today was all about driving to my favorite cottage antique stores. Places where I park under a big oak tree. Away from traffic and the hustle and bustle of city. Places where I have the place almost to myself, and I know the owners, and consider them friends. The shops feel homey. They have a unique "grandma's house" smell. My daughter plays with the cat laying in a patch of sunshine on an old chair while I stroll from room to room. I miss my mom because I feel like she should be standing right behind me so I can turn around and show her this neat old postcard I found.

Can't you just feel the blood pressure dropping as you read this?

Ahhhh. I walk on to the kitchen in the cottage.

And then I see that ironstone pitcher I've always wanted! And the blood pressure shoots back up! In a good way. : )

*sidenote..sofa cushions upturned to keep said lab off.

Today was a great day.

Google is discontinuing Google Friend Connect March 1 for all platforms except Blogger. There is a rumor that they will also cancel GFC for Blogger in the near future.
