Nothing is more boring than looking at a stangers family pics, I know. But I paid more for my photographer than for anything else at my wedding so I have the right to share them on my blog at least once right? And who knows, maybe there's a mom or bride to be out there in blogville that needs some winter wedding ideas and inspiration.
Pam at White Ironstone Cottage has a great post... Prairie Style Wedding | ♥ White Ironstone Cottage#c4823192619569284333#c4823192619569284333... right now about a prairie wedding and it gave me the urge to post some of my wedding pics.
My wedding was in early January, 8 years ago, in the oldest Catholic Church in Fort Worth. It was a formal night wedding with lots of drippy candles a jazz band and amazing antique themed centerpieces.
I'm so proud of my wedding pics because they made me look glamerous (which I'm not).
This was a bit of a budget wedding. Having an 18 month engagement gave my mom (*the* wedding guru) lots of time to make my centerpieces and plan the decor. We had so much fun planning the whole thing. Having a mom who's a professional floral designer and artist sure helps too (thanks mom...♥ you!)
The grooms cake...made to look likeold books ( with Texas A&M bookends for the aggie groom of course)
The kids table was full of candy and small toys...

Dream Backyard Cottages...part II
I'm still dreaming away about having my own sweet little backyard cottage/shed/guesthouse/art studio. We need a shed badly. We came from a house with a 500 sq foot screened in porch with a storage room, to a new house with a tiny backporch and no storage for ugly yard stuff. Right now it is cluttering up the garage.
I want to spice the shed up with shutters, a cupola, a window box for herbs and flowers, and landscaping all around it. Buuut...it looks like the ol' bank account will only allow for a unsightly rubbermaid *thing*. uhg.
So can I transform this...
into this...

Glazing the Painting...before and after photos
The colors were a bit intense in the little painting I did yesterday called "Pasture 1" and I had mentioned that I was going to "antique" it with a glaze. Some of you asked to see the effect of this so here it is! I don't know why, but the painting is looking much brighter in photos than in person.: )
I love the patina of old oil landscape paintings hanging in the art museums. Something happens to the paint over time, it begins to darken and crackle, and this is so beautiful to me.
I have attempted to recreate this look a bit by doing a glaze over my finished painting (which unbelievably dried overnight, probably because I mixed the oil paint with a liquin gel).
Anyways, here are the before and after shots. I may put on another layer of slightly different colored glaze after this one dries...
Before:

After Glazing...
far away...
So, not a HUGE change, but just enough to tone it down and give it an older look. I think with most artists you can look at their work and tell a lot about them. What they like, how they feel, and what artists inspire them. Here is one of my favorite artists, Jan Van Goyen of the Dutch Golden (literally golden in color) period.

Today I painted...
This sweet little 12"x12" oil on gallery wrapped canvas is called "Pasture 1"
It will be varnished with an antique tinted glaze for an aged, museum look. The sides are painted as well, which means no frame necessary!
Before glazing...
After first glazing application:
It is $75. Contact me if interested! View some of my other paintings here

Thank you for looking.
